Once again we see the animal rights activists rearing their ugly heads. What is it this time? It’s a lets attack the semi-supportive lesbian for making a real point. Lindsay Lohan’s girlfriend Samantha Ronson is taking a beating for suggesting that the self-righteous people of California care more about the rights of farm animals than they do of their fellow people.

been getting a lot of furious emails regarding my blog on prop 8 because I apparently offended some animal lovers. um, really people? i love animals as much as anyone, i don’t eat pork- so for those of you fighting that good fight against me… shut up! i was all for prop 2, however i was just pointing out the fact that people in california seem to care more about animal rights than human rights. that’s all. i’m not running around killing chickens for fun or firing a slingshot at a squirrel, nor was i promoting any such behavior, i was simply venting…. much like I am now.

Tell it like it is Sam! It is your blog and you can say whatever you damned well please, but as bloggers who say the unpopular we do have to accept we are going to catch shit over the things we say, why because they are bullies and we stand up to them. Keep fighting the good fight, don’t shrink from letting them know they are hypocrites, and while it is nice to explain yourself when you feel you are truly misunderstood, it isn’t always necessary. I like you for speaking your mind Samantha Ronson, you have a voice that could change the face of the political world if that is what you wanted to do. I suggest holding your ground and telling these animal rights lunatics who honestly do care about the emotional state of veal than they do the hapiness and well being of thier fellow human beings to get bent.

As you may or may not know this week the Connecticut State Supreme Court ruled that gays can marry there too.
Pink Sheep of the Family: The Sanctity of Marriage
The court found that the institution of marriage is special and sacred. Therefore, the very reasons why anti-gay marriage proponents want to deny same-sex couples the right to use the word “marriage” are the exact reasons why same-sex couples must not be denied the right to use the word. “Civil union” doesn’t hold the same power. The court therefore found that the state had been labeling gays and lesbians as separate and unequal second-class citizens.
This is another step in the wrong direction, but not for the reasons most people are now thinking. The problem lies not with letting gays marry, but rather with the state getting more and more involved with what is a religious institution. Both the federal and state governments need to disentangle themselves from such messes not continue to be the gay lovers of religion. They walk around with their hands in each others back pockets fondling their wallets and then try and pretend they aren’t enjoying it.
If people want to get married that is fine I am, and I am all for anyone who wants to get hitched. I also support the right of any minister or other clergy member who wants to refuse to provide a service for gays or anyone else. They are practicing their religion and the government has no business telling them what they should believe or who they should perform services for. On the other hand the government needs to get out of the marriage business all together. They need to mandate a nation domestic partnership rule that allows any two adults to file as spouses regardless of sex, color, creed, race, etc, etc, and as such claim spousal benefits through any plan available to them. The hitch is the contract also has to require the equivalent of a prenup that deals with everything from the division of property, handling of children, and finances.
If you want to protect your right to love the one you want, love the one you are with, swing in style, covet your neighbor’s wife and his ass then you need to get the government out of your marriage and out your bed.

Do you like Sarah Plain believe the gay is caused by not praying enough?
This is just one of those things I don’t get about bible toting gays. You claim to be Christians, yet you, like so many Christians that hate gays, simply pick and choose the passages of the bible you want to believe and follow. There are a lot of good ideas in the bible don’t get me wrong, since I have a difficult ten year old I am really into honor thy father. This however doesn’t make me a Christian or even someone who pretends to be. There are a lot of good ideas in a lot of good books, believing a handful of them from any source doesn’t qualify you as a card carrying believer.
Please someone explain away what looks like delusional thinking on the part of so many of my gay friends?

“Don’t Ask Don’t Tell” may soon go the way of canon barrages, cavalry charges and bayonet charges. In a ruling today by a US Appellate Court, the military must prove that discharging gays improves both military readiness and unit cohesion.
The military cannot automatically discharge people because they’re gay, a federal appeals court ruled Wednesday in the case of a decorated flight nurse who sued the Air Force over her dismissal.
The three judges from the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals did not strike down the military’s “don’t ask, don’t tell” policy. But they reinstated Maj. Margaret Witt’s lawsuit, saying the Air Force must prove that her dismissal furthered the military’s goals of troop readiness and unit cohesion.
Wednesday’s ruling led opponents of the policy to declare its days numbered. It is also the first appeals court ruling in the country that evaluated the policy through the lens of a 2003 Supreme Court decision that struck down a Texas ban on sodomy as an unconstitutional intrusion on privacy.
When gay service members have sued over their dismissals, courts historically have accepted the military’s argument that having gays in the service is generally bad for morale and can lead to sexual tension.
Under Wednesday’s ruling, military officials “need to prove that having this particular gay person in the unit really hurts morale, and the only way to improve morale is to discharge this person,” said Aaron Caplan, a staff attorney with the American Civil Liberties Union of Washington state who worked on the case.
“When the government attempts to intrude upon the personal and private lives of homosexuals, the government must advance an important governmental interest … and the intrusion must be necessary to further that interest,” wrote Judge Ronald M. Gould.
One of the judges, William C. Canby Jr., issued a partial dissent, saying that the ruling didn’t go far enough. He argued that the Air Force should have to show that the policy itself “is necessary to serve a compelling governmental interest and that it sweeps no more broadly than necessary.”
It would also appear that the military might not fight this ruling either, according to Chairman of the Joint Chiefs Admiral Mullen. It seems practicality has finally caught up with even the most conservative backwards thinking.
The next step will be to allow women to serve openly in mixed units. Maybe President Obama will work on that one now that this won’t be an issue.

Back from vacation more stressed and less than I was before, but hell what’s a family for anyways if not to complicate your life. Since I last posted the biggest news has undoubtedly been Friday’s revelation that gays can get married in California. This is only partially true of course.
When California starts marrying gays in next month it is a step forward for equal rights, but for the many nothing will change at all. Most states and the federal government will refuse to acknowledge the marriages. Most employers and insurance companies will refuse to give benefits to the gay spouse. Christians everywhere are going to bitch and moan about things that have no effect on their lives.
I would love to tell my gay friends, “Big fucking deal!” Of course now that it is on record I can be happy for them, nod, smile, and wish them happy times on their summer vacation to California. When they come home and find out that little piece of paper has changed absolutely nothing I will point them towards my blog and remind them that if they had been reading my blog they would have been warned in advance. Sagely wisdom is never easily won, until fucking reality has smacked you in the face.
I can’t deny the moral victory here, but the legal one has no more implication for the rest of the country than does say speed limit in Montana or what kind of tampon Hannah Montana uses. When gay marriages done in California and Massachusetts are considered binging in all fifty states and by the federal government then there will be something for the rest of the country to get excited about.

Just when I thought there was a real chance at change for my gay friends, we hit yet another roadside queer bomb. Danny Noriega, who I suspected from his first prissy attitude blowup has videos of him announcing it to the world on YouTube, even though it has seemed to disappear before I could confirm it personally. David Hernandez did the full monty at gay bars, even though he hasn’t come out as far as I know. Do they have the right to be gay and do what ever their conscience dictates? Sure they do. However there are issues bigger than either of them. If the gay community wants changes, it needs to go out of its way to put a different face out there. They need to present themselves to the majority straight community as normals, or they will never be taken seriously. It is sad it has to come down that way, but that is the reality of the situation.
What is worse with the gay vote being so publicly aligned with the Democrats, for lack of a better phrase, they could queer the whole deal come November if they don’t do something about this situation and do it soon. My Complete thoughts are over on The Other Blog.

It is time to get over the issue of gay marriage, you can’t win it. If people would quit putting so much effort into the lexicon and actually work on the issue instead of shouting, “Help! Help! I’m being repressed!”, you would get somewhere on it.
Fuck Equality too! You will get no where by saying I am your equal. Get up and demand respect, not equality. Never once in the history of humanity has equality been given. Oh sure we sign little pieces of paper that says you and I are equals, but we aren’t. Until people get over their victim mentality, they will never be the equal to anyone except every other self proclaimed victim. Demand respect and show you deserve it, then you will be treated like an equal.
