That said if Barack Obama wins the Election tonight I will be a very happy man and relieved that things will start to look up for me. On the off hand that he doesn’t I am even more concerned things will go badly for everyone without a silver spoon in their mouth already. John McCain is an angry old man who doesn’t take advice well, especially when it comes to dealing with people he sees himself as better than. I have a hard time believing that the middle class, much less us poor folks who are barely making it are going to be better off. I worry that to hold on to his power he will go even further than W has to appease the far right. Unlike his running mate I don’t think he actually believes most of the conservative christian rhetoric that comes out of his campaign, he just feels he can live with it since it gets him what he wants.

Then there is his running mate. I have my serious doubts about John McCain being able to finish a term in office. The idea of Sarah Palin the most sociopathic, unethical, self-serving, deluded, arrogant hypocrite I have ever seen run for office in my thirty four years become president scares the shit out of me. it isn’t just the fact she believes she is on a mission from God (and not one of the Blues Brothers) and that we will be back to backroom coat hanger abortions (and when those fail a sharpened bicycle spoke), it is the fact she is honestly ignorant of the world around. She seems to suffer terribly from delusions of grandeur and compensates for her low self-esteem by acting out however pleases her (she needs more than a big hug to fix her problems). She also doesn’t seem to grasp that what George W Bush did in trampling the constitution was wrong and I fear she will even take it a few steps further. This is a politician who would frighten Machiavelli’s Prince.

No matter how we voted today, we are all Americans, and who ever wins will be our next president. No amount of whining and crying is going to change it. With that said how are you going to feel tomorrow if it is the Other Guy who wins tonight? I would love to hear your story.

Another southern state claims high voter early turnout. it isn’t surprising that there is a lot of interest in early voting, depending on how things go with the baby over the next two days I find myself showing up sometime on Monday to do it myself. What does surprise me is with half the states gone through already the local newspapers leading off with the story of high early voter turnout are all southern states.

The Natchez Democrat - Early voting turnout high

Early voting turnout high

By Vershal Hogan (Contact) | The Natchez Democrat

Published Saturday, November 1, 2008

NATCHEZ — More than 3,400 of the voters in the Miss-Lou having already cast their votes for president.

In Adams County, as of the last tally — taken Thursday evening — 2,002 people have cast absentee votes for the election, Circuit Clerk Eddie Walker said.

Adams County has 21,975 voters on the voter rolls, meaning that 9 percent of those voters has cast ballots.

“I think there is going to be a higher turnout than we usually see,” Walker said. “I have a strong suspicion that this may be our biggest election ever.”

But those numbers do not include Friday’s votes, and in-person absentee voting will not end until today.

The 2,002 vote count is right at the number of votes the election commission projected, Adams County Election Commission Chairman Larry Gardner said.

In the 2004 presidential election, approximately 1,400 absentee votes were cast in Adams County.

“We figured we would pick up another 600,” Gardner said.

The circuit clerk’s office will open at 8 a.m. for in-person voting, which will end at noon.

After that, the clerk’s office will accept mail-in ballots for all races on Monday.

Though mail-in ballots can be received Tuesday, election law dictates that non-military ballots received that day only the presidential race will be counted. Votes for senator, special elections, election commissioner or judge will not be counted.

For military ballots received Tuesday, however, all votes will be counted.

According to the Concordia Parish Registrar of Voter’s Office, as of Friday approximately 10 percent of Concordia Parish’s registered population has already cast a ballot in the presidential election.

The 1,431 ballots cast so far are a combination of the in-person early voting — also known as “no excuse” voting — that was between Oct. 21 and 28 and traditional mail-in absentee ballots.

Concordia Parish currently has 13,698 voters on the rolls.

In Louisiana, absentee ballots by mail must be received by Monday.

However, military and overseas ballots may also be received on Election Day.

Mary Hood contributed to this article.

Students show interest in election | Worthington Daily Globe | Worthington, Minnesota

WORTHINGTON — Rock the Vote, which focuses on young voters, has registered more then 2.5 million voters this year, compared with the 1.4 million voters in 2004 in the 18 to 24-year-old age group. Some polls are considering the upcoming election a breakout year for young voters.

In an effort to find out what young voters are thinking about locally, the Daily Globe chatted with two Worthington High School classes. Of all the students who will be eligible to vote on Tuesday, only one of them was undecided about casting a ballot. The others said in no uncertain terms they will step up to vote on Election Day.

In one classroom of about 30 students, approximately one out of four students said they would vote for John McCain. There were a few undecided, but most of the other students said they would cast their vote for Barack Obama.

Justine Wettschreck Archive
Student supporters of Obama generally believe the United States is in need of change, which they said would not happen if McCain was elected. It would be just like having Bush in office, they said.

The McCain supporters said they think he is the best man to see the country through the rest of the war, something they believe Obama would not handle as well.

But interest in the election itself is high, even among those not old enough to vote.

“They will affect our future and how the laws will be,” one student said. “We have to start educating ourselves on what is going on in the world.”

The issues that concern the students are as varied as the students themselves. They are interested in the state of the economy, the war, the federal deficit, wasteful spending and more.

Their thoughts on the war in Iraq are also varied, from the student that hopes the war will continue long enough for him to be part of it, to the young man who believes pulling out the troops is not the way to go because it will give terrorists the idea that America just gives up.

Many of the students believe that today’s teens are more interested in politics and the issues than their peers of years past.

“Our parents are telling us to prepare,” said Sarah Savy. “They are making us more aware.”

When it comes to the economy, the students know it will affect their college years — not just tuition, but gas, groceries and other living expenses.

They also know they are getting a front-row seat to what will be a historic election, with either the first African-American president or the first female vice-president being elected. Even German foreign exchange student Antonia Vestweber said the interest in the election had been huge in her own country.

“Everyone is watching the United States,” she said.

Most of the students agree that negative campaigns are more likely to make them turn away from a candidate.

“They need to promote themselves more,” stated Anthony Kellen. “Right now it seems to be all about who can dig up the most dirt.”

Many of the students think McCain chose a running mate that would draw in women voters, and they agree that his choice may have backfired on him. Female students agreed they found it somewhat offensive that candidates believe they would vote for a woman because they are women, instead of studying the issues and the candidates before marking a ballot. In the same vein, they think supporting or not supporting a candidate because of race or gender is ridiculous.

“It is 2008 and people need to stop being so ignorant,” Melissa Hernandez stated. “They need to educate themselves.”

“But there are always going to be ignorant people,” Kellen replied.

“People are prone to being discriminatory,” another student added.

Several of the students disagreed with the amount of time and press spent on the candidates’ personal lives, especially when it came to Sarah Palin’s pregnant daughter.

“The actions of her kids aren’t going to affect her decision making for the country,” Hernandez said. “It should be about her, not her family. They rest of it shouldn’t be allowed in.”

In the first class, when asked if they plan to vote when they are eligible, every student raised their hand. But in the second class, there were several that did not. They stated they didn’t have much interest in politics now, but might by the time the next presidential election comes along.

Connor Tripp believes that most Americans want what is best for themselves and their country.

“And we have the power to decide,” he added. “That is pretty cool.”

Ames High School students cast ballots during a mock election Tuesday in the school’s library.

And the winner is …

Barack Obama.

At least at Ames High School where students participated in a mock election this week.

Obama, the Democratic presidential nominee, received 64 percent of the votes while Republican nominee John McCain received 24 percent. Ralph Nader received 3.5 percent, and all other presidential candidates received a combined 8.5 percent.

In the Iowa race for a seat in the U.S. Senate, Democratic incumbent Tom Harkin received 64 percent support, and Republican Christopher Reed received 28 percent. Write-in candidates received 8 percent.

In Iowa’s Congressional 4th District race, Democratic challenger Becky Greenwald edged GOP incumbent Tom Latham with 46.5 percent of the votes compared to Latham’s 46 percent. Write-in candidates received 7.5 percent.

The issue most important to Ames High students was the economy, which received 39 percent. Energy and the environment was second at 21 percent, while education received 15 percent, homeland security/war 9 percent, health care 6 percent and other 10 percent.

The election was Web-based and conducted through the University of Virginia. More than 65 percent of the student population turned out for the election.

“I picked this program because of its structure,” said Denny Cullinan, Ames High chair of the social studies department. “The results gave us national, statewide and high school specific results.”

Cullinan said many different voting programs were available, including one from the Iowa Secretary of State.

Of the results, Cullinan said he it turned out about like he expected, except for the Congressional race.

“Greenwald won, which we didn’t expect,” he said. “It was close, but she still won.”

The voting was set up in the school’s library and was open to all students on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday of this week. To vote, students registered by having their names checked off a list, then they stepped to the computers to make their selections. Afterward they received an “I Voted” sticker.

“We try to make it as close as we can to the real thing,” Cullinan said.

He believes that once someone has voted, their likelihood of voting again is increased based on “the foot in the door phenomenon.”

Cullinan teaches psychology along with various government classes.

In the national mock election among high school students, Obama won 60 percent of the votes while McCain won 36.

Nationally, the economy received the most votes as the issue most important to voters with 39 percent. Energy and the environment was second with 17 percent, and homeland security/war and health care tied for third with 13 percent.

Dover, Del. -

If the results of Delaware’s Student/Parent Mock Election is any indication of how citizens will vote on Tuesday, Democrats should be pleased, as schools voted overwhelmingly in their favor in national and statewide offices.

Results from the statewide mock election, which was held in schools throughout Delaware on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, were announced Friday at Legislative Hall. Two delegates from each school district, including charter and private schools, shared how their schools voted in the House chambers.

The only Republican to win the votes of most Delaware districts was Mike Castle, who has been the state’s lone congressman in the U.S. House of Representative since 1993.

John McCain’s only win for U.S. president came from the Wilmington Christian Academy.

With more than 60,000 votes cast, Commissioner of Elections Elaine Manlove was pleased with the schools’ turnout.

“It’s a great program. Everyone here is real enthusiastic about it,” Manlove said. It’s good to get [students] involved in the process early. It’s great for them to see how their votes counted.”

In past years, the mock election has accurately predicted the results of Delaware’s voting.

“Let’s just see if that holds true,” Manlove said of the upcoming election.

once again on the campaign trail we continue to hear McCain and Palin both talk to Joe Six pack and all those hockey moms how they are going to clean up the world and keep their children safe from H-O-M-O-SEX-uals. There only standing on this issue is their Biblical faith, which Sarah Palin likes to pridefully boast she has more of than anyone ever, because she can she atheist Russia from her backdoor.

Let us examine this biblical passage she holds near and dear to her. From Leviticus 18:22 and 20:13

“Do not lie with a man as one lies with a woman; that is detestable.”

“If a man lies with a man as one lies with a woman, both of them have done what is detestable. They must be put to death; their blood will be on their own heads.”

Alright let us just assume she really believes her bible so it is her duty to make sure the law reflects America’s Christian values. If she is going to do that though without being a hypocrite and panderer she must follow all the rules. Let’s examine where Sarah Palin’s Sunday Sacrilege in a new feature I want to call, Bible Fail!

From Leviticus 117-8
7 And the pig, though it has a split hoof completely divided, does not chew the cud; it is unclean for you. 8 You must not eat their meat or touch their carcasses; they are unclean for you.

Surely you won’t suggest that the farmers in Iowa turn away from the other white meat. Governor? By the by have you every eat a ham sandwich Sarah?

From Leviticus 19:3

“Each of you must respect his mother and father, and you must observe my Sabbaths. I am the LORD your God.”

All the candidates fail on this one if they are campaigning today, but only Sarah Palin and John McCain the good upstanding Christians who believes the bible is the literal word of God are going to Hell for this violation.

From Leviticus 19:3

Do not steal
Do not lie
Do not deceive one another.

Do I really need to tell you which of these she has done by misappropriating campaign money for clothes, make-up, and hair styling. Then there is Troopergate. Then there is her campaigning.

From Leviticus 19:18

Do not seek revenge or bear a grudge against one of your people, but love your neighbor as yourself. I am the LORD.

Troopergate…

From Leviticus 19:19

Do not wear clothing woven of two kinds of material

Surely all her garments can’t be made of a single fiber could they?

From Leviticus 19:26

Do not eat any meat with the blood still in it.

Sure she doesn’t eat all kosher does she?

From Leviticus 24:16

anyone who blasphemes the name of the LORD must be put to death. The entire assembly must stone him. Whether an alien or native-born, when he blasphemes the Name, he must be put to death.

Have you heard her talk about praying for a pipeline?

That sounds pretty blasphemous to me.

Governor Palin with all of these violations of Leviticus a book you claim to believe in do you really think it would be a good idea for you to be in power? Do you think it wise to be the vice president? Do you think God might just bring down his promised wrath on the country for your disobedience?

From Leviticus 26:14-17

if you will not listen to me and carry out all these commands, and if you reject my decrees and abhor my laws and fail to carry out all my commands and so violate my covenant, then I will do this to you: I will bring upon you sudden terror,
wasting diseases and fever that will destroy your sight and drain away
your life. You will plant seed in vain, because your enemies will eat
it. I will set my face
against you so that you will be defeated by your enemies; those who
hate you will rule over you, and you will flee even when no one is
pursuing you.

Can you as Americans allow a person who says she believes the bible literally yet doesn’t follow it to the same degree become the number two leader in the land? Do you want to chance it?

In a shocking, but true story this time another campaign worker is assaulted. Of course after calls by Republicans for Obama to denounce the faked attack in Pennsylvania. Where is their voice now? Why aren’t they screaming and hollering for their own leadership to denounce the beating of one of Barack Obama’s campaign worker? Do they not care or are republicans just racists in general who thought they could score political points with whites with their other story? Where is Sarah Palin’s call to this girl to say, “We might not be of the same party and you might be working against me, but this sort of attack on people trying to show their patriotism is unconscionable and disturbing. I am sorry it happened to you.”

Police investigate political confrontation

Associated Press
8:19 AM CDT, October 20, 2008

CALEDONIA, Wis. - Police in Caledonia say they’re investigating a weekend attack on a Barack Obama campaign worker.

Nancy Takehara tells WISN-TV she drove from Chicago to help canvass a neighborhood in Caledonia Saturday on behalf of the Democratic presidential nominee.

Ronald Goetsch says he had a heated verbal exchange with Takehara over allegations of voter improprieties in other states and the role of voter registration groups and asked her numerous times to leave his property.

Takehara says Goetsch grabbed her by the back of the neck and was pounding her head and screaming.
